Best Method for Direct GMG Print Output via Hot Folder – PDF or XML?

I’m working on setting up a workflow where I need to send files directly from the design stage (e.g., Adobe Illustrator or Hybrid Software) to GMG’s hot folder for automated print output.

I have a few questions regarding the best approach:

  1. For integrating with GMG hot folders, is it better to send PDF files directly, or should I use XML job tickets for automation?
  2. If both are required (PDF + XML), what’s the best way to structure and integrate them?
  3. Has anyone here successfully set up this workflow? If yes, could you please share a basic structure or step-by-step process (such as folder setup, XML syntax, required metadata, etc.)?
  4. Are there any specific configurations or requirements in GMG to enable this kind of automation?
    My Printer is SC5000

This setup is for a low-volume but fast-paced environment where we handle multiple jobs daily, and there’s not enough time for manual color proofing.
