HDTV As A Monitor

I’m running a Sony Bravia 1080p LCD HDTV as a monitor. I also have an NEC EA231WMi 23" IPS monitor.

I’m not into photography, but would like the displays to look alike. Problem is, the HDTV appears to have a gamma of about 1.0, and any attempts to bump it up via software yields a severely over contrasted picture.

I can eyeball them, and get them close to a match, but certain colors are off at certain brightness levels, and not at others…

Any suggestions?

If you are running it as a monitor, then you would be running it through a computer graphics card, and therefore you should be able to calibrate it like a monitor using any of the usual colorimeters on the market.

What kind of software were you using to change the color?
