Profile 'Creation Date/Time' info - CT issue?

Steve, can you clear this up please?

I’ve been using CT 2.1.2 (yep, a non-beta version) to see when the ‘new’ Epson 2200 profiles recently announced by Epson were actually created (see story on RobGalbraith’s web site at this link)
robgalbraith.com/bins/conten … -7888-8105

Now for the ‘2200 premium glossy 2880’ profile it says

Creation Details Creation Date/Time: 2003/11/9, 22:55:0

but interestingly this is identical (to within the minute) of the time in what is presumably the original measurement data in the DevD secret sauce tag:

LGOROWLENGTH 27 CREATED "11/9/2003" # Time: 22:55 KEYWORD "SampleID" KEYWORD "SAMPLE_NAME" NUMBER_OF_FIELDS 5 BEGIN_DATA_FORMAT SampleID SAMPLE_NAME RGB_R RGB_G RGB_B END_DATA_FORMAT NUMBER_OF_SETS 918

So is CT really showing the creation date of the profile, or merely that of the measurement data?

I don’t know whether Epson really have produced new profiles (e.g. re-using old measurement data) or have just re-issued old ones.

Regards

Alan

very interesting observation. A few points:

  • The time CT shows is definitely the one in the profile header
  • The time in the reference data tag might be stamped at the moment the profile is generated by the profiling software (which is GretagMacbeth in this case).

I don’t know why they would do this but it seems like it might be the reason…

regards,

Steve
